About This Site
We built this tool to help people make smarter, safer decisions about alcohol — through honest data, clear science, and free tools anyone can use.
Most people have no idea how many “standard drinks” they’ve had, what their blood alcohol level actually is, or whether it’s safe to drive after a few drinks. We built this site to close that gap — with free, science-backed calculators and straightforward educational content, no sign-up required.
What Is Alcohol Calculator?
Alcohol Calculator is a free, browser-based health education tool focused on alcohol awareness and harm reduction.
We provide real-time BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) estimation, standard drink conversion, party alcohol planning, calorie tracking, and a comprehensive reference database of drink-driving laws across 50+ countries — all in one place, completely free.
Our calculators are built on the Widmark formula, the same scientific model used by researchers and law enforcement worldwide since 1932. Every piece of content on this site is written based on guidelines from the NIAAA, WHO, CDC, and other peer-reviewed health authorities.
This site is supported by advertising. All tools and content remain free to use, forever.

Our Data & Methodology
Content Sources
Our tools and educational content are based on guidelines and data from the following authorities:
- 🏥 National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) — niaaa.nih.gov
- 🌐 World Health Organization (WHO) — who.int
- 🏛️ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) — cdc.gov
- 🚗 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) — nhtsa.gov

Country-specific BAC law data is sourced from the WHO Global Status Report on Road Safety and cross-referenced with official government sources.
How Our Calculator Works
All BAC estimates use the Widmark formula:
BAC = (A × 5.14) / (W × r) − (0.015 × H)
Where A = alcohol consumed (fl oz), W = body weight (lbs), r = sex constant (0.73 male / 0.66 female), and H = hours since first drink. Results are estimates. Actual BAC varies based on metabolism, food intake, medications, and individual physiology. Our calculator is a planning and education tool — not a medical instrument.
Content is reviewed and updated periodically to reflect current guidelines. Last reviewed: March 2026.
About the Creator
Alcohol Calculator
Independent developer-run alcohol education and harm-reduction project
This site is created and maintained under the Alcohol Calculator brand, an independent project focused on practical web tools, clear educational writing, and easier access to public-interest alcohol safety information.
The idea came from a simple observation: most BAC calculator tools online are either outdated, inaccurate, or buried under ads and paywalls. We wanted to build something better — a fast, honest, science-based tool that anyone could use for free.
Alcohol Calculator is a small independent project, not affiliated with any alcohol brand, government body, or healthcare provider. The goal is to make useful alcohol information easier to understand, easier to compare, and easier to act on responsibly.

Important Disclaimer
The tools and information on this website are provided for educational and informational purposes only. They are not a substitute for professional medical, legal, or safety advice.
BAC calculations are estimates. Your actual blood alcohol concentration depends on many individual factors — including body composition, food intake, medications, health conditions, and the rate of alcohol absorption — which vary significantly between people.
Never use this tool to decide whether it is safe or legal to drive. If you have consumed alcohol, the only safe choice is not to drive.
Drink-driving laws referenced on this site are based on publicly available data and may not reflect the most current legislation in every jurisdiction. Always verify local laws before driving in an unfamiliar country.
This site does not promote or encourage alcohol consumption.
